Location

The wedding will take place in Taormina, Sicily, a seaside town at the foot of Mount Etna. (Exact venue location to be revealed). The town is best known for its well preserved Greco-­Roman architecture, as well as its beachside nature reserve.

Getting here

Taormina is a 1-hour drive from Catania, the nearest major city in Sicily.

Catania airport (CTA) is well connected to European destinations and all major transit hubs in Europe via both low-cost and flag carriers.

The Sicilian capital Palermo is a 3-hour drive from Taormina, with air connections comparable to those from Catania.

Rental cars are preferred for getting around the island, but private transfers are available. Public transport is limited outside the major cities.

Accommodation

A number of hotels – ranging from budget to luxury – are located in Taormina. Preferred rates will be available to wedding guests.

Getting to Taormina

Due to the extreme complexity of guests arriving from 4+ continents, we ask that all attendants organize their own travel to Taormina. For most guests, this will mean flying into Catania on the Thursday or Friday prior to the wedding, and traveling to Taormina on Friday or Saturday morning.

Staying in Taormina

We are negotiating preferable rates with hotels in Taormina from Friday to Sunday. More information on this will be available soon. If you decide to organize accommodation separately, please ensure that this is located within the town of Taormina to keep distances manageable throughout the day and night.

Getting around Taormina

As parking at the venue is virtually non-existant, we will organize transportation between the venue and local hotels throughout the day and night. More information on this will follow closer to the day.

Registry

All digital - very 21st century.

Due to the logistics of our wedding, we will be using a purely digital registry, accessible here. We kindly ask you not to bring any physical presents – we simply won’t be able to bring them home.

A note on Covid-19

We're not gonna get around it...

We hope and expect that by summer 2022 a more-or-less normal wedding celebration will be possible. However, we are still planning with Corona in mind and, at the very least, request that:

  1. All attendants be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, including any booster shots for variants available at the time
  2. All travel and accommodation to be booked with flexible options (just in case)
  3. All guests to comply with any regulations applicable on the day (e.g. masks, testing on site, etc.)

Answers to everything that may come to mind

Are dietary restrictions being catered for?

Yes – within reason. Confirmed guests will get the opportunity to make any dietary restrictions known closer to the day.

What accomodation can be booked?

Hotels in Taormina are still finalizing pricing for the 2022 season. We are negotiating special rates for the most convenient hotels, and will share these with confirmed guests as soon as possible.

Is anything planned for the Friday or Sunday?

No specific plans will be made for Friday evening, due to different arrival times and locations guest will choose to spend that evening.

Depending on how many guests elect to stay in the preferred hotel(s) we may organize a joint brunch on Sunday, but this is to be confirmed.

Is there a dress code?

Due to the anticipated weather (hot and sunny) and an almost exclusively outdoor venue, there will be no strict expectation on formal wear. Please come dressed for a summer wedding.

For obvious reasons, wearing white is off-limits.

For those that want to change between the ceremony and the evening festivities, there will be facilities at the venue to do so, or you can return to your hotel via shuttle to do this.

When will the final venue and timing be confirmed.

Final venue and timing will only be announced to confirmed guests via individual correspondence. This will happen in early 2022. However, no significant changes to location and timing are expected, so travel plans can be made prior to this.
